The Rp1’s unique feet up driving position necessitates an equally unique seat design and our custom-designed carbon composite seats are both strong and lightweight as well as being supremely comfortable.
The feet up driving position might initially seem unusual, but it is a very natural position, found in all F1 and LMP race cars, and it quickly makes other cars feel unnecessarily upright.
The seats are adjustable fore/aft with a regular seat slider, whilst further angle and height adjustments can be made by means of bolt position. Both seats feature Willans 6 point racing harnesses and are available with a variety of trim options.
As with the seat, Elemental has designed a bespoke pedal box to accommodate the feet up driving position. The whole pedal box assembly can be moved fore/aft and the individual pedals can be further adjusted to suit driver preference.
Between the seat and pedals, the ergonomics of the Rp1 can be adjusted to fit drivers from 5’0” to 6’6”.
An optional adjustable brake balance bar can be fitted for racing use.
The steering system is a pure unassisted rack and pinion and Elemental offer a choice of steering ratios depending on customer preference.
The steering wheel is available either fixed or quick release and features indicators, horn and main beam levers as well as the gear shift paddles.
These are all located on a boss that rotates with the wheel allowing the use of alternative steering wheels, without affecting the controls.
Controls and electrics
The stylish Elemental designed control panel is located in the centre console and contains the start buttons, key and optional Engine Map buttons. The Engine Map buttons allow the selection of various Track and Race modes stored within the engine controller unit (ECU).
All of the critical vehicle data is displayed on a full colour, Elemental configured, Motec dash display which has a CAN data feed from the ECU and changes the display output to suit the selected Map.
The Rp1 incorporates a Thatcham certified immobiliser which only permits engine start with the use of the unique Elemental coded key. The immobiliser also locks out the bonnet and rear deck latches making the front and rear storage secure when the key is not present.
For the driver’s convenience, there is a 12V power socket by the seat and a USB phone charging socket in the centre console bin.
The car also features predominantly LED lighting which saves both power and weight.Tub Power Train
